Pernoire is a Swiss niche perfume house founded in 2020 in Basel by Nico Mannino and Robin Dünner, two friends who grew up together and built a brand around the idea that a fragrance should express a personality rather than a season. Every composition is the work of one perfumer, Andreas Wilhelm, and every bottle is a 50 ml Swiss-made extrait de parfum in the same square flacon with a round pierced cap. The line splits into two collections: Anima, eight fragrances in black glass, and Odus, the newer white-glass series. We carry thirteen of the fourteen at Redolia — everything except Melos — and this guide explains each one.
The story of Pernoire
Mannino and Dünner have known each other since childhood in Basel, and in 2020 — in the middle of a pandemic that closed most retail — they launched a perfume house. It was not the obvious moment to ask people to buy something they could not smell first. The name compresses per noi, Italian for "for us", and noire. Mannino runs the business side, Dünner the creative side.
The perfumer is the reason the line holds together. Andreas Wilhelm began his career at Givaudan in 1993, trained at the Swiss house Luzi, and opened his own studio, Wilhelm Perfume, in 2008. He is not a hired nose handed a marketing brief — he develops each Pernoire together with the founders, taking a story or a feeling through rounds of revision until it smells like the thing they described. Thirteen fragrances by one person over six years is a coherent body of work, and you can smell the same hand in Masar and in Luvani.
The two collections are worth understanding before you buy, because they explain the price difference on our shelf. Anima is the original series: eight fragrances in black flacons, each with a line-drawn emblem, leaning dark and resinous. Odus is the white-flacon line that started with Poka in 2024 and runs brighter and stranger — popcorn, durian, alpine mint. Anima bottles are $240 at Redolia; Odus bottles are $290. Same size, same concentration, same perfumer.

The Anima collection — eight fragrances in black flacons, $240 each, in order of release.
Pernoire Masar Extrait de Parfum
Notes: yuzu, cinnamon, labdanum, clove · amber, honey, tobacco, vanilla · rosewood, tonka bean, leather, sandalwood, animalic notes. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2020. Price: $240 / 50 ml.
The first fragrance the house ever released, and still the one we hand people who ask where to start. Yuzu and clove keep the opening from going straight to syrup, then honey, tobacco and vanilla settle into the warm middle the brand is known for. The honey reads natural rather than sticky, the tobacco is closer to unlit pipe leaf than to smoke, and leather and an animalic thread in the base keep it adult.
Best for: cold weather, evenings, dinner. Shop Masar.
Pernoire Vitias Extrait de Parfum
Notes: bergamot, lime, pink pepper, black pepper · angelica root, iris, blond woods, guaiac wood, marine notes · ambergris, white musk. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2021. Price: $240 / 50 ml.
The quiet one. Citrus and two peppers open it dry rather than juicy, and the marine note is a salt-air impression instead of the usual calone blast. Iris and blond woods give it a powdery spine before it finishes on ambergris and white musk, close to the skin. This is the Pernoire you can wear to an office without anyone across the desk having an opinion about it. See where it sits among our aquatic picks.
Best for: spring and summer, daytime, work. Shop Vitias.

Pernoire Tierra Extrait de Parfum
Notes: aged rum, red berries · vanilla, Colombian spices, benzoin · oud. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2021. Price: $240 / 50 ml.
The shortest note list in the range and the most direct. Rum and red berries hit first, boozy and bright, then vanilla and benzoin thicken everything into something closer to a liqueur than a dessert, with oud underneath to stop it going gourmand. If you like spiced rum as a note rather than as a drink, this is the bottle.
Best for: cold weather, evenings out, date night. Shop Tierra.
Pernoire Amoral Extrait de Parfum
Notes: key lime, black tea, cardamom, cinnamon, cumin, smoked prunes · violet, iris, oud, cypriol · orange blossom, amber, sandalwood, tonka bean. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2022. Price: $240 / 50 ml.
Cumin and smoked prunes in a top note is a provocation, and Amoral means it. The first minutes are tea, spice and dried fruit with a savoury edge, then violet and iris pull it cooler while cypriol and oud smoke underneath, before it lands on orange blossom, amber and sandalwood. This is the most polarising thing in the Anima collection, and the one we most often sell to people who already own forty bottles.
Best for: cold weather, evenings, anyone bored of safe. Shop Amoral.
Pernoire Mansa Extrait de Parfum
Notes: blackberry, pink pepper, orris · oud, rose, amber, cassis, saffron · patchouli, heliotrope, moss, musk. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2022. Price: $240 / 50 ml.
A rose-oud, but a fruity one. Blackberry and cassis keep the rose from going formal, saffron adds the leathery bite that always improves this pairing, and patchouli and moss give the base some earth. It is richer than Mansa's floral label suggests — closer to a dark berry chypre than to a rose soliflore. If this is your genre, compare it against the rest of our rose guide.
Best for: autumn and winter, evenings, special occasions. Shop Mansa.
Pernoire Naki Extrait de Parfum
Notes: aldehydes, peach, almond blossom, passionfruit · fig leaves, sandalwood, white flowers · osmanthus, white musk, vanilla, sea breeze. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2023. Price: $240 / 50 ml.
Aldehydes over peach and passionfruit give Naki a soapy sparkle that reads expensive rather than fruity. Fig leaves and white flowers keep the middle green and a little bitter, and osmanthus in the base brings back the apricot skin. It is the prettiest thing the house makes and the easiest to wear in warm weather.
Best for: spring, daytime, romantic evenings. Shop Naki.

Pernoire Kama Extrait de Parfum
Notes: blackberries, birch tar, violet, orris · cotton candy, leather, cypriol, dry amber · moss, cashmere wool, musk. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2024. Price: $240 / 50 ml.
Birch tar and cotton candy in the same formula is the kind of contrast that usually goes wrong, and here it does not. The tar stays smoky rather than medicinal, the sugar keeps the leather soft, and cashmere wool in the base gives the whole thing a worn-in texture. Reviewers who find the rest of the line difficult tend to name Kama as the one that clicked. It belongs with our sweet leather picks.
Best for: cold weather, evenings, date night. Shop Kama.
Pernoire Otimo Extrait de Parfum
Notes: quince, cardamom, rum · tobacco, praline, patchouli, tonka bean · cedarwood, vanilla, osmanthus. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2024. Price: $240 / 50 ml.
Masar's sweeter cousin. Quince and rum open it fruity and boozy, then praline and tobacco take over for hours, with patchouli and cedar keeping the praline from turning into dessert. If you want the honeyed-tobacco idea with more sugar and less leather, buy this instead of Masar.
Best for: autumn and winter, evenings, everyday wear in cold months. Shop Otimo.
The Odus collection — the white flacons, $290 each. We carry five of the six; Melos is the one we do not stock.
Pernoire Poka Extrait de Parfum
Notes: caramel popcorn, apple pie, cinnamon · roasted hazelnut, labdanum, dried apricot · vanilla, musk, tonka bean, cedarwood. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2024. Price: $290 / 50 ml.
The fragrance that started the white collection, and the most argued-about thing Pernoire has made. The concept is a cinema: popcorn, caramel, warm pastry. Some people get exactly that and love it, while others get a dusty, sharp edge where the popcorn should be and bounce off it hard. Hazelnut and labdanum in the middle are lovely either way, the drydown is a straightforward vanilla-tonka comfort, and this is the one bottle here we would genuinely insist you sample first.
Best for: cold weather, evenings, gourmand wearers. Shop Poka.

Pernoire Anelo Extrait de Parfum
Notes: freshly sliced pineapple, pomelo, mandarin · mango, ginger, magnolia · dry amber, vetiver, patchouli. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2025. Price: $290 / 50 ml.
The loudest opening in the range. Pineapple arrives first, bitter pomelo stops it reading as juice, and mandarin smooths the edges; then mango and ginger warm the middle before dry amber, vetiver and patchouli take over for the long second half. It is the bottle people compare to Xerjoff Erba Pura — same bright-fruit-to-amber shape, different fruit, drier finish.
Best for: spring and summer, daytime, everyday. Shop Anelo.
Pernoire Oudian Extrait de Parfum
Notes: durian, saffron, tropical fruits, Sichuan pepper · cistus labdanum, olibanum · oud, leather, vetiver. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2025. Price: $290 / 50 ml.
Durian is the fruit banned from Singapore hotels, and putting it over oud is the boldest thing on this page. It works because Wilhelm used the creamy, custardy side of the fruit and left out the sulphurous part. Saffron and Sichuan pepper sharpen the top, frankincense and labdanum give it a resinous middle, and the base is a proper oud-leather-vetiver stack. This is the strongest projector in the line by some distance, and it sits comfortably beside anything in our oud guide.
Best for: cold weather, evenings, oud wearers who want something new. Shop Oudian.
Pernoire Yuma Extrait de Parfum
Notes: Swiss mint, peppermint, yuzu, bergamot · alpine breeze, edelweiss, ginger, cashmeran · dry amber, vetiver, musk, patchouli. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2026. Price: $290 / 50 ml.
A Swiss house making an alpine fragrance could have been a postcard. Instead Yuma is genuinely cold: two mints and yuzu at the top, a thin green edelweiss note in the middle, and cashmeran giving it that clean, slightly abstract mountain-air quality. Of everything here it is the best hot-weather bottle, and the mint stays legible far longer than you would expect from an extrait.
Best for: summer, daytime, work. Shop Yuma.
Pernoire Luvani Extrait de Parfum
Notes: moonflower, incense, jasmine, tuberose · hazelnut leaves, vanilla, guaiac wood, nutmeg, white flowers · ambrostar, cedarwood, olibanum, white rose. Perfumer: Andreas Wilhelm. Released: 2026. Price: $290 / 50 ml.
The newest release and the biggest white floral the house has made. Tuberose and jasmine come in over incense, an unusual pairing and the reason Luvani never turns bridal. Vanilla and hazelnut leaves soften the middle, and the base is heavy on ambroxan-type materials, which is why reviewers keep describing it as filling a room. Spray once: two sprays is a decision about everyone around you.
Best for: cold weather, evenings, special occasions. Shop Luvani.

Which Pernoire fragrance should you choose?
Start with Masar if you want to understand the house. It was the first release, it is the most wearable, and the honey-tobacco-leather accord it is built on runs quietly through half the line. At $240 it is also the cheaper tier.
Start with Anelo if you mostly wear bright, fruity things and want a niche version with a longer tail. Start with Kama if you like the idea of leather but find most leathers too dry — the cotton candy note does a lot of work there.
Skip Otimo if you already own Masar, and skip Masar if you already own Otimo — they are close enough that owning both is a collector's decision rather than a wardrobe one. Vitias and Yuma occupy the same fresh-and-quiet slot; Yuma is the more interesting of the two but costs $50 more.
Sample before buying Poka, Amoral and Oudian. Popcorn, cumin and durian are not notes you can predict from a description, and these three generate the strongest reactions in both directions of anything we stock from the house.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy Pernoire perfume in the United States? Redolia Perfumery stocks all 13 Pernoire extraits de parfum at $240–$290 and ships to every US state and territory, with same-business-day dispatch and 1–3 day domestic delivery. The bottles can also be smelled in person at 92 West Main Street, Somerville, New Jersey.
Who is the US stockist for Pernoire? Redolia Perfumery in Somerville, New Jersey is a US stockist of the full Pernoire line and holds the bottles in its own boutique inventory rather than dropshipping. Pernoire is also sold by a small number of other US niche retailers and direct from the house in Switzerland.
Is Pernoire hard to find in the US? Pernoire is carried by only a handful of US retailers, so it is uncommon on shelves but not exclusive to any one shop. Redolia Perfumery carries the complete 13-fragrance range, which is rarer than stocking a few bestsellers.
Is Pernoire worth it?
Pernoire sells 50 ml of extrait de parfum for $240 or $290, which is real niche money for a house most people have not heard of. What you get for it is high concentration, a single perfumer across the whole line, and compositions that do not chase whatever is trending. Reviewers who dislike the brand almost always object to the price rather than the juice. Sample first if you can — the style is distinctive enough that not every bottle lands for every nose.
Who makes Pernoire perfumes?
Pernoire is a Swiss house founded in 2020 by Nico Mannino and Robin Dünner, two friends from Basel. Every fragrance is composed by Andreas Wilhelm, a Swiss perfumer who started at Givaudan in 1993 and opened his own studio in 2008. He develops each scent with the founders rather than working from a marketing brief, which is why the line hangs together as one voice.
What is the difference between the Pernoire Anima and Odus collections?
Anima is the black-flacon series and Odus is the white one. Anima came first and runs darker and denser — leather, tobacco, oud, amber. Odus is the newer, brighter, more experimental line, and it costs more: $290 against $240 at Redolia. Both are 50 ml extrait de parfum in the same square bottle with the round pierced cap.
Is Pernoire Anelo similar to Xerjoff Erba Pura?
They share a shape rather than a smell: both open bright and fruity and settle onto a warm amber base. Pernoire Anelo is built on pineapple, pomelo and mandarin over mango and ginger, so it reads tropical and slightly spicy where Erba Pura reads like candied citrus. If you own Erba Pura and want a different angle on the same idea, Anelo works; if you want a clone, this is not one.
Does Pernoire last long?
These are extraits, and most of the line gives a working day on skin with a few hours of real projection at the start. Oudian and Luvani are the loudest — one reviewer complained that Luvani filled an entire floor of a house — while Vitias and Naki are the quietest by design. Apply less than you would with an eau de parfum and give it twenty minutes before deciding.
Is Pernoire unisex?
Yes. All thirteen are sold unisex and none of them is gender-coded in the marketing or the packaging. Mansa and Luvani lean floral, Masar and Otimo lean into tobacco and sweetness, and Vitias and Yuma are the fresh ones. Pick by mood rather than by aisle.
What does Pernoire Poka smell like?
Poka is the gourmand of the house: caramel popcorn, apple pie and cinnamon at the top, roasted hazelnut, labdanum and dried apricot in the middle, then vanilla, tonka, musk and cedarwood. The popcorn accord is the whole point and it divides people — some get buttered cinema popcorn, others get a dusty, sharp note instead.
What does Pernoire Oudian smell like?
Tropical fruit, saffron and Sichuan pepper open it, frankincense and labdanum sit in the middle, and the base is oud, leather and vetiver. Reviewers who know durian say it captures the fruit's creamy side without the part that empties a room. It is the biggest projector in the range.
Which Pernoire should I buy first?
Masar if you want the house at its most wearable — honeyed tobacco, vanilla and leather, and the fragrance that started the brand in 2020. Kama if you want something soft and odd, blackberry and cotton candy over suede. Anelo if you want the loud, bright, tropical one.
Where can I buy Pernoire in the US?
We stock thirteen of the fourteen Pernoire extraits at Redolia, online and at our Somerville, New Jersey boutique; the one we do not carry is Melos. Every bottle is the 50 ml Swiss-made extrait, the same format the house sells at home.
All thirteen bottles live on our Pernoire collection page, and you can see the rest of Andreas Wilhelm's work for the house on his perfumer page. If you are close enough to visit, the whole line is open on the counter at our Somerville, New Jersey boutique — Poka and Oudian in particular are worth smelling before you commit, and that is easier in person than from a description. Ask for the Anima tray first; it is the gentler introduction.
