Redolia is a small, curated house of niche perfumery — which means what's on our shelves is chosen deliberately, not stocked because a distributor asked. Every bottle earns its place, and every bottle can be traced back to a real perfumer, a real story, and a real reason it exists.
What we look for
We work almost exclusively with independent and small-house perfumers who compose fragrances the way an author writes a novel — slowly, with a point of view, using materials that would never survive a mass-market budget. That means iris butter that took years to age. Real Bulgarian rose absolute. Silver frankincense from Oman. Ambergris tinctures. Vintage patchouli. The kind of ingredients that give a perfume soul.
What we don't carry
You won't find celebrity fragrances here. You won't find dupes, clones, or lookalikes. You won't find brands that treat their scents as marketing vehicles instead of art. If it's mass-market designer, it's easy to find elsewhere — we'd rather use the shelf space for something you can't get at every mall.
How we help you choose
Fragrance is personal, and no online questionnaire can replace the process of actually smelling something on your skin. That's why we built our boutique in Somerville around a scent bar, why we ship generous samples and travel sprays, and why we answer every recommendation email personally. Ask us anything — what you already love, what you want to feel, what an occasion calls for — and we'll point you at three or four bottles worth trying.
Curation is the product
The internet gave everyone access to every fragrance on earth. What it didn't give them is a trusted taste — someone who has smelled it all and can tell you where to start. That's the actual product Redolia sells. The bottles are just how the taste travels home with you.
