What it smells like

Pernoire Otimo is a warm, sweet woody aromatic fragrance built around quince, tobacco and praline. It opens with quince, an aromatic fruit that smells like a cross between apple, pear and honey, alongside cardamom for a cool, green spice and rum for a boozy warmth. The opening is fruity, spicy and immediately inviting.

In the heart, tobacco adds a dry, sweet, hay-like richness, praline brings a toasted, nutty caramel sweetness, patchouli gives earthy depth, and tonka bean contributes a creamy, almond-like warmth. This is the core of Otimo: a balance of sweetness and dryness that feels luxurious rather than sugary.

The base settles on cedarwood, vanilla and osmanthus. Cedarwood adds a clean, dry woody structure, vanilla a smooth warmth, and osmanthus a soft, apricot-like, slightly leathery floral note that makes the drydown more refined. As an extrait de parfum from Pernoire's Anima line, made at 25% concentration, Otimo is long-lasting and leaves a warm, elegant trail.

Who made it

Otimo was composed by Andreas Wilhelm, the Zurich-based Swiss perfumer credited on every fragrance in Pernoire's current range. Wilhelm started in perfumery at Givaudan, trained at Luzi, and founded Wilhelm Perfume in 2008. He creates Pernoire's fragrances in close collaboration with founders Robin Dünner and Nico Mannino.

Otimo was released in 2024. Its story is the phoenix rising after defeat, prouder and more powerful than before. It represents pride, resilience and the pursuit of excellence, and the phoenix symbol on its bottle captures that spirit.
