Description

What it smells like

Sweet Leaf is the house's cannabis fragrance, and it is green and herbal rather than sweet — the name refers to the plant, not to sugar.

Fragrantica publishes a flat note list for this one rather than a top-heart-base pyramid, so rather than invent a structure, here is what is in it: cannabis, eucalyptus, grapefruit, angelica and jasmine. On skin the grapefruit and eucalyptus arrive first, bright and camphorous, and the cannabis accord sits underneath almost immediately — green, resinous and dry, closer to crushed leaf than to smoke.

Angelica adds an earthy, slightly bitter root quality, and the jasmine is used sparingly, softening the green edges without making the fragrance floral. It stays broadly linear: what you smell at twenty minutes is what you will smell at four hours, slightly quieter.

Community accords rank aromatic at the top, then cannabis, woody, citrus and a camphorous facet. Fragrantica publishes no olfactive family for it; aromatic woody is our own reading of the accord profile and is labelled as such on this listing.

Who made it

Room 1015 has not published a perfumer credit for Sweet Leaf, and neither has Fragrantica — its page carries no nose card at all, which is unusual for a house that credits its perfumers elsewhere. We would rather say that plainly than guess: the other fragrances in the line are by Jérôme di Marino, Jérôme Epinette and Serge de Oliveira, but we have no source attributing this one to any of them.

What is documented is the brief. Sweet Leaf is the house's cannabis fragrance, built around 1960s counterculture and described by the brand as the scent of a colourful trip with no destination.

Who it's for

For people who want a green fragrance with some grit. Most green scents are either sharp galbanum or clean tea; this is neither, and the eucalyptus gives it a medicinal edge that makes it memorable.

If you enjoy herbal, camphorous or vetiver-adjacent fragrances this will make sense. It is also a reasonable choice for anyone who likes the cannabis-accord genre and has found the gourmand versions too sweet. Within the house it is the most laid-back thing on offer.

Unisex, with no lean in either direction.

When to wear it

Spring and summer. The citrus and eucalyptus lift in warmth, and the fragrance is light enough not to become cloying in heat.

Daytime and everyday wear. Projection is moderate and it is inoffensive enough for an office, though the cannabis accord is recognisable to anyone who knows it — worth bearing in mind depending on your workplace.

About the house

Room 1015 is a Parisian niche house founded in 2015 by Michael Partouche — Dr. Mike — a trained pharmacist who spent five years in London touring with his band before deciding that fragrance was the one discipline that could hold both halves of his life. The name is a hotel room number: 1015 of the Continental Hyatt House on Sunset Strip, the "Riot House", where touring bands took their after-parties in the 1970s.

The house calls what it does olfactory counterculture, and every fragrance starts from a specific cultural reference rather than from a material. The bottle is the same throughout — heavy coloured glass sized for the palm, under a faceted cap cut like a dark gem, black for the eaux de parfum and silver for the extraits. Sweet Leaf is the house's nod to 1960s cannabis counterculture. See the rest of the line in the Room 1015 collection at Redolia.

Fragrance Notes

What's the difference between accords and notes?

Accords are the overall scent families a fragrance gives off — its character at a glance. Notes are the individual ingredients you smell as it develops, from the first spritz (top) to the lasting dry-down (base).
