Description
What it smells like
Iggywoo Bohemian Water is a salty citrus built on the idea of a Californian coastline. The brief the house gives is the Malibu shore — salt water, warm skin and sun — and the composition follows it closely without resorting to the usual calone-heavy aquatic formula.
It opens sharply citrus. Fragrantica lists Californian lemon and a general citrus accord; the brand also names bergamot and caviar lime, the finger-lime varietal whose pulp bursts in small acidic beads. Whichever you credit, the effect is the same: bright, juicy and slightly bitter rather than sweet.
Neroli and orchid sit underneath, softening the citrus into something floral and a little creamy. Then salt and white musk take over for the drydown, and that salt note is the fragrance's signature — it is dry and mineral, closer to skin after swimming than to sea spray.
Community accords rank it citrus first by a wide margin, then fresh, salty, aromatic and marine. Projection is moderate and lifespan is on the shorter side, which is typical of citrus-dominant compositions.
Who made it
Every Iggywoo fragrance is composed by Richard Saint-Ford, the house's British founder and its only perfumer. He is self-taught, with no conservatory training and no training house behind him, and he treats that as the point rather than a gap — the press has taken to calling him the heretic perfumer.
Before perfumery he spent close to twenty years in fashion and beauty as a creative and marketing director and later a CMO. His method starts with mood boards, music and imagined landscapes rather than with raw materials, which is why the Iggywoo scents tend to read as a place or a mood first and a note list second. Bohemian Water was part of the original 2024 launch that established the house.
Who it's for
For anyone who wants a summer citrus with some texture to it. If standard aquatics read as too clean or too synthetic, the salt and musk here give it a skin quality that most of the category lacks.
It suits people who reach for colognes and fresh citruses in warm weather but want something less generic. Within the house it is the lightest and the most immediately likeable — it is also the only one priced below the rest of the line, and the one that departs furthest from the brand's warmer, denser work like Cherry Love Extreme.
Unisex, and the easiest fragrance in the range to wear without thinking about it.
When to wear it
Summer and spring, without hesitation. This is a hot-weather fragrance and it behaves best in heat, where the citrus lifts and the salt stays. In winter it reads thin.
Daytime rather than evening. It is well suited to the office, to everyday wear, to travel, and to any long warm day where you want to smell clean rather than perfumed. Reapplication through the day is sensible given the citrus structure.
About the house
Iggywoo is an independent house founded in Los Angeles in 2024 by Richard Saint-Ford, a British self-taught perfumer who spent nearly two decades in fashion and beauty before composing anything. The name comes from a word he and his grandmother used for imagination; she raised him, made scents from the plants around her, and baked for a living, and he started the house after a year away following her death.
The house works to a simple brief: take a familiar idea and refuse the obvious version of it. That is why the pistachio is not a dessert, the cherry sits behind the clove, and the vanilla never reaches the bakery. Every fragrance shares one flacon, a squat clear bottle under a tall stepped white cap, with the wordmark set in mirrored type. Browse the full Iggywoo collection at Redolia.
Fragrance Notes
What's the difference between accords and notes?
Accords are the overall scent families a fragrance gives off — its character at a glance. Notes are the individual ingredients you smell as it develops, from the first spritz (top) to the lasting dry-down (base).
