Description
What it smells like
The Iggywoo Discovery Set is the house's own boxed sampler: six 2 ml spray vials covering the entire current range, presented in a printed card sleeve. It is the sensible way to meet a house whose whole premise is doing familiar ideas differently, because the six scents sit a long way apart from one another.
The set contains Pistachio Voodoo Child, a white-floral pistachio built on lily, jasmine and sandalwood rather than on sugar; Lost In Vanillatopia, a musk-forward vanilla with damask rose, grapefruit, amber and tonka; Cashmere Show Pony, dry coconut husk and passion flower over cashmere wood and white musk; Bohemian Water, a salty Californian citrus with neroli and orchid; Fantasma Overglow, a sparkling bitter-citrus over cedar, frankincense and amber; and Cherry Love Extreme, clove and pink pepper over cherry, rose, patchouli and ambroxan.
Between them the set covers citrus, gourmand, floral, musk and spice, so it is a genuine cross-section rather than six variations on a theme.
Who made it
Every Iggywoo fragrance is composed by Richard Saint-Ford, the house's British founder and its only perfumer. He is self-taught, with no conservatory training and no training house behind him, and he treats that as the point rather than a gap — the press has taken to calling him the heretic perfumer.
Before perfumery he spent close to twenty years in fashion and beauty as a creative and marketing director and later a CMO. His method starts with mood boards, music and imagined landscapes rather than with raw materials, which is why the Iggywoo scents tend to read as a place or a mood first and a note list second. All six fragrances in this set are his.
Who it's for
For anyone considering a full bottle and sensibly unwilling to commit at this price without trying first. Two millilitres is enough for several full wearings, which is what you need to judge a fragrance properly — the Iggywoo scents in particular change character over the course of a wear, and a paper strip will not tell you much.
It also makes a straightforward gift for someone whose taste you do not know precisely, since the range is broad enough that most people find at least one they want.
This is the brand's own factory-sealed set, not a decant assembled by a retailer.
When to wear it
The set spans the seasons by design. Bohemian Water and Fantasma Overglow are the warm-weather choices, Cherry Love Extreme and Lost In Vanillatopia want cold air, and Cashmere Show Pony and Pistachio Voodoo Child sit comfortably in between.
The practical approach is one scent per day over a week, worn on skin rather than on card, and keeping notes on which ones you reach back for. The vials are sprays rather than dabbers, so they apply the way a full bottle would.
About the house
Iggywoo is an independent house founded in Los Angeles in 2024 by Richard Saint-Ford, a British self-taught perfumer who spent nearly two decades in fashion and beauty before composing anything. The name comes from a word he and his grandmother used for imagination; she raised him, made scents from the plants around her, and baked for a living, and he started the house after a year away following her death.
The house works to a simple brief: take a familiar idea and refuse the obvious version of it. That is why the pistachio is not a dessert, the cherry sits behind the clove, and the vanilla never reaches the bakery. Every fragrance shares one flacon, a squat clear bottle under a tall stepped white cap, with the wordmark set in mirrored type. Browse the full Iggywoo collection at Redolia.
