Description
What it smells like
El Sireno (‘Merman’) is a critically acclaimed aquatic floral — an energising potion from the deep sea. It opens with a splash of green banana leaf, briny laminaria seaweed and cool lavender.
The heart blooms into narcotic white flowers: ylang-ylang, tuberose and magnolia, lush yet lifted by the marine freshness. The base grounds it in nature, with earthy oakmoss, creamy sandalwood and resinous mastic. It is a rejuvenating, oceanic floral — fantasy-driven and utterly refreshing.
The full composition runs from top notes of Banana Leaf, Laminaria, Lavender, through a heart of Ylang-Ylang, Tuberose, Magnolia, to a base of Oakmoss, Sandalwood, Mastic — a aromatic aquatic built to unfold slowly and wear close to the skin. The parfum is housed in House of Bō's signature bottle, finished with a hand-cut, semi-precious stone cap chosen to mirror the mood of the scent.
On skin its principal accords — Aquatic, Floral, Green, Marine and White Floral — layer into a rounded, characterful whole, and as a parfum-strength concentration it is built for rich projection and long wear. It is offered here in both a 40 ml and a larger 75 ml bottle.
As founder Bernardo Möller describes it: “Experience a rush of adrenaline inducing, aquatic notes tamed by calming narcotic florals.”
Who made it
This parfum was composed by Laurent Le Guernec, an accomplished French-American perfumer and senior perfumer at IFF in New York. Over a long career he has created for many major houses, contributing to well-known designer lines for Armani, Michael Kors and others, and is admired for fresh, radiant, expertly balanced compositions. His style marries French elegance with an American sense of clarity and wearability, moving easily between crisp aquatics, luminous florals and warm woods.
For House of Bō, Laurent shaped El Sireno as a bold, artistic parfum that translates this pedigree into the house's tropical, Latin-inflected style.
Who it’s for
For lovers of aquatic florals who want something lush, green and original rather than a plain fresh scent. Fully unisex.
It suits anyone who loves marine and watery-floral scents with a sensual, transportive quality, and its radiant, skin-warm feel makes it endlessly wearable; fully unisex.
When to wear it
At its best in spring and summer and through the day, ideal for heat, holidays and anywhere you want an oceanic lift.
It is loveliest in spring and summer and through the day, made for warm weather and holidays, yet its sensual drydown keeps it working into the evening.
About the house
House of Bō is a contemporary niche perfume house founded by Bernardo Möller, its Founder and Creative Director. Its signature DNA is rooted in simplicity, minimalism and spirituality, and it collaborates with some of the world's most accomplished perfumers to create bold, artistic parfums that pair fine materials with a tropical, Latin-inflected sensibility. Each fragrance is presented in a distinctive bottle crowned with a hand-finished, semi-precious stone cap chosen to echo the character of the scent, making the collection as beautiful to display as it is to wear. The house's collection spans fresh citrus, lush florals, plush gourmands and smoky woods, each conceived as a distinct olfactory world. At Redolia Perfumery every House of Bō parfum is offered as a full bottle in two sizes, 40 ml and 75 ml.
Fragrance Notes
What's the difference between accords and notes?
Accords are the overall scent families a fragrance gives off — its character at a glance. Notes are the individual ingredients you smell as it develops, from the first spritz (top) to the lasting dry-down (base).
