Description
What it smells like
Iggywoo Lost In Vanillatopia is a vanilla that spends most of its time being a musk. The house built it around a fantasy accord it calls Solar-Amber-Musk, and the intent was explicitly to avoid the sugary, bakery register that vanilla usually occupies — the brand's own phrase is molten gold rather than dessert.
Damask rose and grapefruit open it, which is an unusual pairing for a vanilla and gives the first few minutes a bright, slightly tart lift. That fades quickly into the body of the fragrance: amber, tonka bean and honeysuckle, warm and faintly powdery, with the honeysuckle adding a soft floral sweetness that is more nectar than sugar.
The drydown is musk, skin musk and vanilla together. This is where it settles and stays. Fragrantica's accord ranking puts musky at the top by some distance, then vanilla, powdery and amber — and that order matters, because it tells you this wears closer to a skin scent than to a vanilla gourmand.
It is the highest-rated fragrance in the Iggywoo line on Fragrantica, and the newest, released in 2026.
Who made it
Every Iggywoo fragrance is composed by Richard Saint-Ford, the house's British founder and its only perfumer. He is self-taught, with no conservatory training and no training house behind him, and he treats that as the point rather than a gap — the press has taken to calling him the heretic perfumer.
Before perfumery he spent close to twenty years in fashion and beauty as a creative and marketing director and later a CMO. His method starts with mood boards, music and imagined landscapes rather than with raw materials, which is why the Iggywoo scents tend to read as a place or a mood first and a note list second. Lost In Vanillatopia is his most recent release and his best-received to date.
Who it's for
For people who want to wear vanilla without smelling like a bakery. If you have tried the big sweet vanillas and found them cloying, this is the version that keeps the material and discards the sugar.
It is also a good entry point for anyone who likes skin musks and soft ambers. The vanilla is present throughout but it is wrapped rather than foregrounded. Compared with the rest of the house it is the warmest and the most wearable — Cashmere Show Pony is lighter and more tropical, Cherry Love Extreme considerably darker.
Unisex, and genuinely so; the musk-and-amber base keeps it from reading as either strongly feminine or masculine.
When to wear it
Cold weather, overwhelmingly. The amber and tonka have more presence when the air is cool, and the musk base lasts longer on a wool coat than on bare skin in August. Autumn and winter are its natural season.
It leans evening and night, and it is a strong choice for a dinner, a date or any close-quarters occasion — the skin-close drydown rewards proximity. It is soft enough for everyday wear and for the office if you apply with restraint.
About the house
Iggywoo is an independent house founded in Los Angeles in 2024 by Richard Saint-Ford, a British self-taught perfumer who spent nearly two decades in fashion and beauty before composing anything. The name comes from a word he and his grandmother used for imagination; she raised him, made scents from the plants around her, and baked for a living, and he started the house after a year away following her death.
The house works to a simple brief: take a familiar idea and refuse the obvious version of it. That is why the pistachio is not a dessert, the cherry sits behind the clove, and the vanilla never reaches the bakery. Every fragrance shares one flacon, a squat clear bottle under a tall stepped white cap, with the wordmark set in mirrored type. Browse the full Iggywoo collection at Redolia.
Fragrance Notes
What's the difference between accords and notes?
Accords are the overall scent families a fragrance gives off — its character at a glance. Notes are the individual ingredients you smell as it develops, from the first spritz (top) to the lasting dry-down (base).
