Description
What it smells like
Iggywoo Fantasma Overglow is a bright citrus over a warm resinous base, and it is the fragrance in the house where the brand's description and the community's note list diverge most. Both agree on the effect: a cocktail spilled on warm skin, luminous rather than dark.
The opening is emphatically citrus. Fragrantica lists bergamot, grapefruit and bitter orange; the brand instead describes a sparkling champagne accord giving way to blood orange. Either way the first impression is effervescent, slightly bitter and quite dry — not a sweet fruit opening.
Underneath, the readings separate. Fragrantica's note list includes cedar, frankincense, tobacco and agarwood alongside amber, while the brand mentions only radiant woods and golden amber and is explicit that it never turns dark or heavy. Worn, it lands between the two: there is a smoky, resinous shadow under the citrus, but it stays transparent rather than becoming an oud fragrance. The community accords bear this out — citrus at the top, then fresh spicy and woody, with oud and amber ranked low.
The result is a citrus with more staying power than citruses usually have, because the resins hold it in place.
Who made it
Every Iggywoo fragrance is composed by Richard Saint-Ford, the house's British founder and its only perfumer. He is self-taught, with no conservatory training and no training house behind him, and he treats that as the point rather than a gap — the press has taken to calling him the heretic perfumer.
Before perfumery he spent close to twenty years in fashion and beauty as a creative and marketing director and later a CMO. His method starts with mood boards, music and imagined landscapes rather than with raw materials, which is why the Iggywoo scents tend to read as a place or a mood first and a note list second. Fantasma Overglow was part of the house's original 2024 release.
Who it's for
For people who want a citrus that lasts. The usual complaint about bright citrus fragrances is that they vanish; the cedar and frankincense base here solves that without making the scent heavy.
It suits anyone who likes sparkling, slightly bitter openings and does not want a sweet fruit scent. If you are oud-averse, note that the agarwood sits far back and reads as warm wood rather than as a medicinal oud. Within the house it is the brightest and most energetic — Bohemian Water is the other citrus but is salty and aquatic where this one is spiced and resinous.
Unisex, and the most party-appropriate scent in the range.
When to wear it
Spring and summer suit it best, though the resinous base means it does not collapse in cooler weather the way a pure citrus would. It is more flexible across seasons than its opening suggests.
Evening more than day, and specifically social evenings — drinks, dinner, a night out. The brand's own framing is the moment a night starts to blur, and the fragrance is built for exactly that kind of occasion. It works in the daytime too, where it reads as a bright, well-made citrus.
About the house
Iggywoo is an independent house founded in Los Angeles in 2024 by Richard Saint-Ford, a British self-taught perfumer who spent nearly two decades in fashion and beauty before composing anything. The name comes from a word he and his grandmother used for imagination; she raised him, made scents from the plants around her, and baked for a living, and he started the house after a year away following her death.
The house works to a simple brief: take a familiar idea and refuse the obvious version of it. That is why the pistachio is not a dessert, the cherry sits behind the clove, and the vanilla never reaches the bakery. Every fragrance shares one flacon, a squat clear bottle under a tall stepped white cap, with the wordmark set in mirrored type. Browse the full Iggywoo collection at Redolia.
Fragrance Notes
What's the difference between accords and notes?
Accords are the overall scent families a fragrance gives off — its character at a glance. Notes are the individual ingredients you smell as it develops, from the first spritz (top) to the lasting dry-down (base).
