Description
What it smells like
Ramon Monegal Lucky Spray is an amber-floral eau de parfum that puts a rose-and-oud heart inside a clean, watery shell — an unusual arrangement, and the reason it does not smell like anything else in the Katharsis line. It opens on bergamot, coconut water and cascalone, a melon-fresh aroma material, and the first impression is cool and almost transparent: citrus peel, the thin milky water inside a young coconut, a slice of melon. There is no sugar in the opening at all.
Then the heart arrives and changes the temperature. Damask rose comes in full and jammy, jasmine grandiflorum adds an indolic, slightly animal white-floral depth, and oud sits underneath as a dry woody resin rather than a barnyard blast. Monegal uses oud here as a shadow behind the rose, not as the subject, which is what keeps the fragrance wearable in daylight.
The base is an amber pearl accord and what the house calls a pheromonal musk cocktail: warm, skin-like, faintly powdery, the sort of drydown that reads as your own skin on a good day. Expect five to seven hours with a soft but persistent trail. The distance between the cool opening and the warm close is the whole point — the fragrance behaves like a charm that works slowly.
Who made it
Lucky Spray was composed by Ramon Monegal, the fourth-generation Barcelona perfumer who founded the house. It is one of six fragrances in Katharsis, the 2026 collection made with the artist Miguel Caravaca, each tied to a single idea. Lucky Spray's is luck: the brand frames it around positive superstition, the rituals people still build to influence their fortune in an age of technology.
The outer tube carries Caravaca's hand-drawn artwork, while the perfume itself stays in Monegal's standard inkwell flacon.
Who it's for
This is for people who want a rose-oud fragrance without the weight that usually comes with one. If Middle-Eastern-style rose-oud compositions feel too dense or too sweet to you, Lucky Spray is the aired-out version: same heart, but opened up with melon and coconut water and finished on skin musk rather than resin.
It is unisex and genuinely so — the rose is not sugared and the oud is not smoky, so it sits in the middle. If you want a loud oud or a classic powdery rose, look elsewhere. If you want something that smells expensive and close to the skin, this delivers.
When to wear it
Lucky Spray works best in spring and summer, and it crosses from day into evening more easily than most rose-oud scents. The watery opening makes it viable in heat where a heavier rose would suffocate, and the musky base gives it enough presence for an evening out or a date.
In cold weather it still performs, but the fresh top notes disappear quickly and you arrive at the rose-musk heart within minutes. Two to three sprays is the right dose; the sillage is moderate, designed to be discovered at conversational distance rather than announced across a room.
About the house
Ramon Monegal is a Barcelona perfume house founded by the fourth generation of Spain's most important perfuming family. His great-grandfather's drugstore led to the founding of Myrurgia in 1916, and Ramon trained inside the family company from 1972 before studying with Artur Jordi Pey at Firmenich in Geneva, Marcel Carles in Grasse and Pierre Bourdon in Paris. He spent some thirty years as Myrurgia's in-house perfumer, and when the company was sold in 2000 he stepped away from corporate perfumery to work independently, launching his eponymous house later that decade. Literature is his stated inspiration after nature, which is why every fragrance is housed in the same faceted inkwell flacon with his monogram embossed on the flip-top cap: one vessel, many stories. Lucky Spray Eau de Parfum is available at Redolia Perfumery as a full 75 ml bottle.
Fragrance Notes
What's the difference between accords and notes?
Accords are the overall scent families a fragrance gives off — its character at a glance. Notes are the individual ingredients you smell as it develops, from the first spritz (top) to the lasting dry-down (base).
