Description
The June Thirtieth Discovery Set holds all three fragrances from Vol. 1 — OG, Vanilla's Muse and Serene Santal — in 2 ml vials, for $30. It is the cheapest way to try the complete range from this New York house before committing to a 50 ml bottle at $230, and the three are different enough from each other that most people find one clearly theirs.
What It Smells Like
Three fragrances, deliberately unalike. What they share is a method rather than a material: each is built on a contrast that stops it settling into one easy idea.
OG is the floral fruity gourmand. Tart rhubarb and cherry open it, rose and violet form the heart, and spun sugar, musk and cedarwood carry the base. Fragrantica's community reads it musky first, which is not what the note list predicts — on skin it behaves like a sweet musk with fruit over it. It is rated 4.58 out of 5 there, and was a finalist for Indie Fragrance of the Year at the 2026 Fragrance Foundation Awards.
Vanilla's Muse is the vanilla, and it is not a dessert. Almond cream and licorice flower open it, vanilla bean sits with Peru balsam and myrrh in the heart, and tonka, labdanum and patchouli close it. The myrrh is what makes it work: a dry, bitter resin that keeps the sweetness in focus. Rated 4.60 out of 5, the highest of the three.
Serene Santal is the woody one and the most restrained. Cardamom and olibanum open dry, orris gives the middle a suede texture, and New Caledonian sandalwood anchors the base. Rated 4.38 out of 5, and the only one of the three the house states as unisex — though Fragrantica files all three for women and men.
Who Made It
All three were composed by perfumers at IFF, one each, which is unusual for a debut collection — most new houses use a single nose for continuity.
OG is by Jean-Marc Chaillan, who grew up in Grasse and trained at ISIPCA. Vanilla's Muse is by Laurent Le Guernec, a French-American senior perfumer in IFF's New York office. Serene Santal is by Patty Hidalgo, a Vice President Perfumer who came into the field through the laboratory rather than through perfumery school.
The house also publishes a green-chemistry figure for each release — a measure of how much of a formula comes from processes designed to reduce waste and hazardous inputs. Across Vol. 1 it runs from 82% on Vanilla's Muse to 97.5% on Serene Santal, and the range is vegan.
Who It's For
For anyone considering a June Thirtieth bottle and unsure which. At $230 for 50 ml this is not a range to guess at, and the three occupy genuinely different territory — fruity-musky, warm vanilla, dry woody — so the set answers the question properly rather than offering three variations on one theme.
It also suits people who already know they want to sample rather than own, and it works as a gift when you do not know someone's taste. Each vial holds 2 ml, which is roughly twenty to thirty sprays: enough for several full wearings of each, including the drydown, which is where all three change most.
When To Wear It
Between them the three cover the year. Serene Santal leans autumn and winter, Vanilla's Muse is the coldest-weather one of the set, and OG is the one Fragrantica's voters put in spring.
Wear each on its own across a full day before deciding — all three are eaux de parfum that sit close to the skin after the first hour, and none of them shows its real character in the opening ten minutes.
About The House
June Thirtieth is a New York house whose first three eaux de parfum make up Vol. 1, all launched in 2025 and all composed by IFF perfumers.
The house identity is built around contrast rather than a single signature material, which is why a sampler makes more sense here than it does for houses with a recognisable base running through everything. Browse the full bottles in the June Thirtieth collection at Redolia.
