What it smells like

Pernoire Masar is a warm amber spicy fragrance with honey, tobacco and leather. It opens with a bright squeeze of yuzu, quickly wrapped in cinnamon and clove, two classic warm spices, along with labdanum, a sticky amber resin with a slightly leathery depth. The opening feels festive and glowing, like spiced citrus over warm resin.

In the heart, amber and honey add a rich, golden sweetness, tobacco brings a dry, hay-like, slightly fruity warmth, and vanilla smooths everything into a comforting, rounded texture. This is where Masar is at its most enveloping: sweet but not sugary, with the tobacco keeping it grounded.

The base moves towards woods and leather. Rosewood adds a soft, slightly floral woodiness, tonka bean a creamy almond-like warmth, leather a supple texture, and sandalwood a smooth, milky finish. Animalic notes give a subtle, sensual depth that makes the drydown feel close to skin. Who made it

Masar was composed by Andreas Wilhelm, the Swiss perfumer credited on every fragrance in Pernoire's current range. Wilhelm began his career at Givaudan in 1993, trained as a perfumer at Luzi, and founded his own Zurich studio, Wilhelm Perfume, in 2008. He works closely with Pernoire founders Robin Dünner and Nico Mannino.

Masar was Pernoire's first fragrance, released in 2020. Its story is about self-confidence, which grows as you face challenges and trust your own path. Masar means path in Arabic, and the dragonfly on its bottle represents metamorphosis and becoming your true self.
