Description
What it smells like
Risvelium opens with a bright, almost sharp citrus declaration—grapefruit and pineapple announce themselves with the kind of candour you don't often encounter in contemporary perfumery. There's no softening here, no creamy top note to ease the transition. Instead, the fruit arrives as a genuine olfactory event, tart and insistent, with the pineapple lending a slightly green, almost vegetal character that prevents any descent into sweetness.
As the composition settles, aromatic notes emerge—herbal, slightly peppery, grounding the initial brightness into something more contemplative. This is where Risvelium begins to reveal its true architecture. The aromatics don't compete with the citrus; rather, they create a kind of dialogue, a tension between freshness and earthiness that feels intentional and carefully balanced.
The base is where Gualtieri's hand becomes unmistakable. Amber, musk and woody notes coalesce into a warm, skin-like drydown that feels almost animalic in its proximity. This is not a fragrance that hovers above the wearer; it settles into the warmth of the body, becoming increasingly intimate as the hours pass. The amber provides a honeyed, almost resinous undertone, whilst the musk and woods create a subtle, persistent musky-woody bed that suggests leather, soil and something faintly animalic—a quality that defines the Orto Parisi philosophy.
Risvelium is uncompromising in its refusal to be conventionally pretty. It's a fragrance for those who appreciate complexity over comfort, and who understand that the most interesting scents often contain a degree of challenge.
Who made it
Risvelium is composed by Alessandro Gualtieri, the perfumer behind both Orto Parisi and its sister house, Nasomatto. Gualtieri's approach to fragrance is rooted in a philosophy that prizes the corporeal and the earthbound—where Nasomatto pursues intoxication and excess, Orto Parisi celebrates the body, the earth and the animalic in a more measured, though no less bold, register.
Each Orto Parisi fragrance is a full statement of intent, uncompromising in its vision and presented in the house's distinctive rounded flacon with sculpted cap. Gualtieri does not dilute his ideas for commercial palatability; instead, he invites the wearer into a world of unfiltered sensory experience.
Who it’s for
Risvelium is for the fragrance wearer who has moved beyond the search for universal approval. It suits those with a developed nose—people who have spent time with challenging, animalic fragrances and who understand that perfumery's most interesting conversations happen in the margins.
Because it is unisex in conception, Risvelium works equally well on all bodies. Gender is irrelevant to its logic. What matters is a willingness to wear something that refuses to whisper; something that arrives with conviction and settles into the skin with quiet authority.
This is a fragrance for the reader, the thinker, the person who appreciates editorial rigour in their olfactory choices. It rewards attention and repeated wearing, revealing new facets as it develops on the skin.
When to wear it
Risvelium's bright opening suggests cooler months or early morning wear, when the grapefruit and pineapple can shine without competing with heat. However, the warmth of the base—that intimate amber-musk-woody accord—makes it equally compelling as the day progresses and temperatures drop.
This is not a fragrance designed for specific occasions. Rather, it suits those who wear fragrance as a daily practice, as an extension of personal style and sensibility. It's a fragrance for the person who chooses their scent with the same care they choose their reading matter or their furniture.
Wear it when you want to feel grounded, when you want a fragrance that connects you to something earthy and real rather than aspirational or fantastical.
About the house
Orto Parisi takes its name from the garden of Alessandro Gualtieri's grandfather, Mr Parisi, in Puglia, in the south of Italy. It is the sister house to Nasomatto, and where that house pursues intoxication and sensory excess, Orto Parisi operates from a different set of principles: a celebration of the body, the earth, the animalic and the uncompromising.
Each fragrance is composed by Gualtieri himself and presented in a rounded flacon with a sculpted cap—a design that feels almost sculptural in its refusal of conventional perfume bottle aesthetics. These are not fragrances designed to sit prettily on a dressing table; they are tools for olfactory experience, objects of intent.
At Redolia Perfumery, we stock Orto Parisi as full 50 ml bottles of parfum—the highest concentration, the longest lasting, the most complete expression of Gualtieri's vision.
Fragrance Notes
What's the difference between accords and notes?
Accords are the overall scent families a fragrance gives off — its character at a glance. Notes are the individual ingredients you smell as it develops, from the first spritz (top) to the lasting dry-down (base).
