What it smells like

Memo Paris Cap Camarat is an amber-vanilla eau de parfum named for the headland on the Saint-Tropez peninsula, and it does something most amber-vanillas cannot: it works in heat. It opens on pink peppercorn and a watery apple accord — cool, transparent, almost aquatic, which is a deliberately misleading start for a fragrance that ends up this warm. The heart brings ylang-ylang, jasmine and vanilla absolute, the ylang creamy and faintly banana-like, the jasmine indolic enough to keep it from going sweet too early. Then the base arrives and the whole thing turns: sandalwood, benzoin, amyris, patchouli and labdanum, a resinous amber that is sunlit rather than heavy, with the amyris adding a dry woody edge the vanilla needs. Expect seven to nine hours, strongest in the first two, then a warm skin scent.

The contrast between the cool opening and the resinous close is the fragrance's entire argument, and it is why it holds up on a hot evening where a conventional amber-vanilla would suffocate.

Who made it

Cap Camarat was composed by Nadège Le Garlantezec and released in 2026 in Memo's Fleurs Bohèmes line. Memo characterises her work through dreamlike formulas — compositions that favour atmosphere and light over structural weight, which is a fair description of what happens here.

The flacon carries artwork by the illustrator Olimpia Zagnoli, in keeping with Memo's practice of crediting a visual artist alongside the nose.

Who it's for

This is for people who love amber-vanillas but not in July. If you own the heavy resinous ambers and shelve them for six months a year, Cap Camarat is the one that stays in rotation — the pink pepper and watery apple keep the opening bright and the amyris keeps the base dry.

Within Memo it sits between the florals and the resins. Marfa is the bigger white floral; Palais Bourbon is the serious resin. Cap Camarat is the sunlit middle, and the most straightforwardly pleasant of the three. It is unisex and genuinely balanced. If you want a statement fragrance, this is not it — it is designed to be worn close.

When to wear it

Cap Camarat is a summer fragrance first and a spring one second, and it crosses from day to evening easily. Heat is its ally: the resins become radiant rather than dense, and the opening stays legible longer than you would expect. It suits everyday wear, daytime outings, warm evenings out and dates.

Two to three sprays. It is the rare amber that does not punish a generous hand, though one spray is enough in a small warm room.
