Description
What it smells like
Jovoy Paris Remember Me is a gourmand eau de parfum that behaves like a cup of spiced milky tea, and it is far better built than that description makes it sound. It opens sharp and bright: cardamom first, then bergamot and lemon. The citrus is real and slightly bitter, not candied, and the cardamom sits across it with a cool resinous edge, so the first minutes are closer to a chai being poured than to a dessert.
The heart is where it becomes distinctive. Frangipani — the creamy, waxy tropical white flower — arrives alongside ginger and tea. Ginger keeps the spice moving, tea brings a dry tannic bitterness, and frangipani supplies the lactonic softness that ties the citrus to the sweetness coming underneath. It is a genuinely unusual heart, and it is the reason Remember Me does not smell like any of the standard gourmands.
The base is vanilla, wood, milk and cedarwood. The milk note is literal and it works: a soft, slightly sweet dairy warmth that rounds everything off, with cedar keeping a dry line through it so the drydown does not go soft. Expect five to seven hours with moderate projection — this is the most wearable fragrance in the Jovoy line and it is deliberately not a statement scent.
Who made it
Remember Me was composed by Cécile Zarokian and released in 2018. Hénin's account is that she had the idea of blending spiced tea with frangipani, and the composition follows that brief closely. Zarokian also wrote Private Label for the house, which is dry, papyrus-led and severe — the two together show how far a single perfumer's range extends when a publisher lets her set the idea.
Who it's for
This is for people who want a gourmand they can wear to work. If you like milky, tea-ish, lightly spiced fragrances and find most gourmands too sugary, Remember Me is the restrained version — there is citrus running through it the whole way, and the sweetness never gets above comfortable.
It is unisex and sits genuinely in the middle; the cardamom-and-tea spine keeps it from reading feminine and the milk keeps it from reading masculine. If you want projection or drama, this is the wrong bottle — it is designed to be worn close. If you want something that makes people stand nearer to you, it is exactly right.
When to wear it
Remember Me is the most flexible fragrance Jovoy makes. The citrus opening keeps it comfortable in warm weather and the milk-and-vanilla base gives it enough body for a cool evening, so spring through autumn is its natural range and it handles winter days fine. It suits everyday wear, the office, daytime outings and casual evenings.
Because the projection is moderate, three or four sprays is reasonable — more than you would use on the heavier Jovoys. It is also one of the safest fragrances in the line to wear in close quarters.
About the house
Jovoy Paris has two beginnings. The first was in 1923, when Blanche Arvoy founded Jovoy as a Parisian perfume and cosmetics maison; the name then went quiet for more than eighty years. The second came when François Hénin — who spent years chasing raw materials in the forests of Vietnam before a spell in Grasse — revived it, a relaunch the house dates to 2010. Jovoy operates as a publisher rather than a laboratory, commissioning independent noses such as Cécile Zarokian, Jacques Flori, Véronique Nyberg and Vanina Muracciole, and it also runs Jovoy Parfums Rares at 4 rue de Castiglione, a step from the Place Vendôme, which calls itself the embassy of rare perfumes. Remember Me Eau de Parfum is available at Redolia Perfumery as a full 75 ml bottle.
Fragrance Notes
What's the difference between accords and notes?
Accords are the overall scent families a fragrance gives off — its character at a glance. Notes are the individual ingredients you smell as it develops, from the first spritz (top) to the lasting dry-down (base).
