Cécile Zarokian

Cécile Zarokian is a Paris-based independent perfumer and one of the most prolific noses working in niche perfumery today. She graduated from ISIPCA in Versailles, then spent four years training at Robertet in Grasse, where she composed her first commercial fragrance. In 2011 she left to open her own creative studio, which she still runs and which now employs a team of seven.

Her reputation was built at Amouage, for whom she has written more than ten fragrances, among them Epic Woman (2009), Material, Outlands and Opus XIV Royal Tobacco, which won a Fragrance Foundation Award in the United States in 2023. Alongside that she composes for Nishane, Granado, Masque Milano, MDCI and Jovoy, and consults on scent branding for clients including Pernod-Ricard and Suntory.

What distinguishes her is range rather than a signature. For Jovoy Paris she wrote two fragrances that could hardly be less alike: Private Label (2011), a dry, papyrus-and-vetiver woody with no sweetness anywhere in it, and Remember Me (2018), a milky spiced-tea gourmand built on frangipani and cardamom. Both are among the house’s best sellers, and together they make the argument for Jovoy’s commissioning model better than any single fragrance could.
