What it smells like

Harmattan is named for the dry, majestic wind that sweeps across West Africa. It opens crisp and aromatic, with cedar, lavender and bergamot conjuring both freshness and force.

The heart adds a green, peppery lift — geranium and pink pepper over a modern amber — before the composition settles onto its signature: a supple leather that recalls the tanneries of North Africa, deepened by patchouli and vetiver. The result is a fresh-to-leather journey, breezy at the top and smoothly animalic at the base.

Who made it

Every Ella K fragrance is composed by Sonia Constant, a senior perfumer trained at ISIPCA and the Givaudan perfumery school who spent more than two decades creating for one of the world’s most prestigious fragrance houses before founding Ella K in 2017. Widely respected in the industry, she has signed acclaimed compositions for major houses while pursuing, through Ella K, a more intimate and personal form of perfumery. Her signature is refined, cinematic storytelling — each scent is built like a travelogue, translating the light, air and materials of a real place into a composition that feels both couture-polished and quietly emotional, favouring beautiful naturals and modern captives over loud, obvious effects.

Ella K Parfums is an independent French niche house founded in 2017 by master perfumer Sonia Constant. Its concept is olfactory travel: every fragrance is a postcard from a specific place on Earth — a bay, a garden, a desert, a wind — rendered in fine materials and named to read like an entry from a traveller’s journal. The line spans a Core Collection of far-flung destinations and a more abstract, luxurious “K” Collection, all presented in collectible, artfully labelled bottles.
