What it smells like

D'ORSAY Sur Tes Lèvres. E.Q. is a floral-musky Eau de Parfum conceived as the extension of a kiss. It opens with pink pepper and ambrette: the pepper gives a rosy, faintly sparkling spice, while ambrette seed, one of the few plant materials that smells genuinely musky, brings a warm, slightly fruity softness from the very first moment. The opening is gentle rather than bright.

The heart pairs iris with jasmine. Iris is powdery, cool and expensive-smelling, with that characteristic hint of violet and raw carrot; jasmine warms it and adds a touch of white-floral sensuality. Neither dominates, and the effect is intimate, like skin rather than flowers in a vase.

Cashmeran contributes a soft, musky-woody plushness, and ambroxan, the ambergris-style molecule found in many modern perfumes, gives a warm, saline, skin-like glow. Who made it

Sur Tes Lèvres. E.Q. was composed by Dominique Ropion, one of the most respected master perfumers working today. A perfumer at IFF, Ropion is known for technically rigorous, emotionally direct compositions and for a long list of modern classics, and he also mentored Fanny Bal, who composed another D'ORSAY fragrance in this collection.

Released in 2023, it is presented by the house as a fragrance of endless love, a radiant union of iris and musk, with the initials E.Q. standing for the person behind it.

D'ORSAY is a Parisian perfume house whose story begins in 1830 with Count Alfred d'Orsay, a dandy and artist who, as the house tells it, composed a fragrance in tribute to his love for Marguerite, Countess of Blessington.
