Description
What it smells like
D'ORSAY Rose Blaze is a floral-ambery Extrait de Parfum that sets rose against burning woods. It opens with bergamot and peach lifted by pink pepper: the bergamot is bright, the peach gives a velvety fruitiness, and the pink pepper adds a rosy crackle that leads naturally into the heart. The start is juicy but never sugary.
The heart is rose absolute, the richest and most expensive form of the flower, edged with iris butter. Rose absolute smells deeper and more honeyed than rose oil, closer to crushed petals than to a rose garden, and the iris lends a cool powderiness that stops it from becoming jammy. This is an opulent rose, unmistakably the centre of the composition.
The base gives the fragrance its heat. Sandalwood is creamy and warm, tonka bean adds an almond-like sweetness, and benzoin brings balsamic resin with a hint of vanilla. Concentrated above 30% as an extrait, Rose Blaze projects generously in its first hours and then settles into a long, warm, resinous drydown that lingers on skin and fabric.
Who made it
Rose Blaze was composed by Jordi Fernández, a contemporary perfumer known for warm, addictive compositions with real character. He also created Tonka Hysteria for D'ORSAY, and his work appears across a number of niche houses.
Released in 2025, the fragrance is presented by the house as burning desire: an opulent, insolent rose revealed beneath swirls of sandalwood.
Who it’s for
This is for rose lovers who want depth rather than prettiness. If you enjoy rose-and-wood or rose-and-amber fragrances, or you already wear opulent Middle Eastern-style roses and want a French interpretation, Rose Blaze will make sense immediately.
It is unisex: the sandalwood, tonka and benzoin base gives the flower enough weight to suit anyone. If you prefer fresh, dewy roses, this is the opposite end of the spectrum, so try it on skin first.
When to wear it
Rose Blaze is best in autumn and winter, and on cool spring evenings. It is made for dinners, celebrations, special occasions and nights when you want your fragrance to be noticed and remembered.
One or two sprays are plenty given the concentration. In hot weather the resins and sandalwood can feel heavy during the day, so evening wear is the better choice in summer.
About the house
D'ORSAY is a Parisian perfume house founded on an 1830 story: Count Alfred d'Orsay, dandy and artist, composed a fragrance as a tribute to his love for Marguerite, Countess of Blessington, and it is remembered as one of the first worn by women and men alike. Every D'ORSAY fragrance today is unisex. Alongside the Eaux de Parfum, which carry a person's initials in their names, the house produces a line of Extraits de Parfum concentrated above 30%: bolder, longer-lasting single ideas such as Tonka Hysteria, Rose Blaze, Holy Berry and Flower Lust. Fragrances are made in France, and the house's Paris boutique is at 44 rue du Bac. Rose Blaze Extrait de Parfum is available at Redolia Perfumery as a full 90 ml bottle.
Fragrance Notes
What's the difference between accords and notes?
Accords are the overall scent families a fragrance gives off — its character at a glance. Notes are the individual ingredients you smell as it develops, from the first spritz (top) to the lasting dry-down (base).
