It opens on clementine and bergamot, a soft, round citrus rather than a sharp one; clementine is sweeter and less bitter than most citrus openings and it sets a gentle tone immediately. The heart is narcissus and iris, and this is the part that gives the fragrance its character: narcissus is green, hay-like and faintly animalic, iris is cool, rooty and powdery, and together they make something quietly serious underneath the bright start. Who made it

J.R. was composed by Karine Chevallier and launched in 2019. Chevallier is independent — she founded her own Paris studio, Olfactive Design, in 2005 — having entered ISIPCA in 1993, trained under Mark Buxton, and worked at Guerlain before going out on her own.

She has taught perfumery at the École Supérieure du Parfum in Paris since 2014, and describes this one as unisex and almost multi-gender, which is a fair reading of how it wears.
