Description
BORNTOSTANDOUT Sugar Addict is the house's best-known fragrance: a sweet gourmand built on sugar, cocoa, coffee and rum over a tonka and vanilla base. It was composed by Anne-Sophie Behaghel, launched in 2023, and is sold as a 50 ml eau de parfum. Fragrantica rates it 3.86 out of 5 from more than a thousand votes.
What It Smells Like
Sugar Addict opens exactly as named. Sugar leads, with cinnamon essence beside it, and the first minutes are frankly sweet — granular rather than syrupy, with the cinnamon adding a dry heat that stops it reading as candy.
The heart is cocoa and coffee extract, and this is where the fragrance earns its reputation. The cocoa is bitter rather than milky, the coffee dark and roasted, and together they pull the sugar from above down into something considerably more adult. Anyone expecting a simple dessert will find this stage drier than they bargained for.
The base is where it becomes comfortable: tonka bean and vanilla absolute with rum, labdanum absolute and cashmere wood. The rum is boozy and warm, labdanum brings an ambery, slightly leathery depth, and cashmere wood supplies the soft musky-woody hum that holds the whole thing together. It is rich, and it lasts.
Fragrantica's community ranks the accords vanilla first at full weight, then sweet at 96, warm spicy at 68, amber at 46 and cinnamon at 44. It is rated 3.86 out of 5 there from 1,051 votes — by far the largest sample of anything in this house's range, and the spread is wide: 387 loves against 39 hates, which is the signature of a fragrance people react to rather than shrug at.
One sourcing note: Fragrantica lists this one as a flat set of materials with no top, heart and base split. The pyramid above is the house's own.
Who Made It
Sugar Addict was composed by Anne-Sophie Behaghel, a French perfumer and co-founder of the Paris studio Flair, known for compositions with a clear narrative line and for work across independent houses.
The eau de parfum sits at the house's stated 30–40% fragrance concentration, which is unusually high for the category and explains the wear time people report.
Who It's For
For people who want a gourmand with some bitterness in it. The coffee and cocoa keep this from being a straightforward sugar fragrance, and that contrast is why it has lasted as the house's signature.
It suits wearers who already like boozy, spiced gourmands, and anyone looking for a sweet fragrance with real projection. If you find sweetness in perfume difficult, the opening will probably decide it for you — this does not hide what it is.
Unisex, and worn widely as such.
When To Wear It
Cold weather, clearly. Fragrantica's seasonal voting puts winter and autumn far ahead of spring and summer, and in heat the sugar and rum become a great deal more insistent than most people want.
Evening more than day, though the votes split less sharply there than the sweetness suggests. Expect strong projection in the first hours and apply with a lighter hand than you would a weaker eau de parfum.
About The House
BORNTOSTANDOUT is a Korean house founded in Seoul in 2022 by Jun Lim. It works with established European perfumers rather than an in-house nose, and its names — Dirty Heaven, Filthy Musk, Drunk Lovers — are deliberately blunt in a category that usually is not.
Sugar Addict is a 2023 release and the house's most widely collected fragrance. Browse the rest of the range in the BORNTOSTANDOUT collection at Redolia.

Fragrance Notes
What's the difference between accords and notes?
Accords are the overall scent families a fragrance gives off — its character at a glance. Notes are the individual ingredients you smell as it develops, from the first spritz (top) to the lasting dry-down (base).
