Hellenist

Hellenist is available in the United States at Redolia Perfumery, which stocks all five eau de parfums from the Paris house at $218 for 100 ml and ships to every US state and territory from its boutique at 92 West Main Street, Somerville, New Jersey. Every Hellenist fragrance is built on a figure or scene from Greek mythology.

Each fragrance tells the epic of a god or hero — Achilles, Artemis, Morpheus, the three hundred at Thermopylae — through materials sourced around the Mediterranean, including sacred fig and Olympian lavender. The conceit could easily have been a costume, but the compositions hold up on their own terms, spanning aromatic fougères, chypres, ambers and aquatics rather than one house accord repeated.

The perfumers are the real signal of intent. Maurice Roucel — the nose behind some of the most respected fragrances of the last thirty years — works alongside Alexandra Carlin, Suzy Le Helley and Pierre-Constantin Guéros. For a house two years old, that roster is unusual.

Recognition followed quickly: two Indies Awards from Cosmétique Magazine in 2024, a gold medal for best niche fragrance brand and a founder award for Jacoby. Bottles are minimalist square glass with pale wood caps and line-drawn mythological labels.
