Description
Narcotica Amber Radiance is a 2026 amber vanilla extrait de parfum by perfumer Mathilde Bijaoui of Mane. It opens with rum and lemon zest, moves into a heart of amber and orange blossom, and dries down to Madagascar vanilla, ambergris and musk. It is unisex, sold in a 100 ml bottle, and best suited to autumn and winter.
What it smells like
The first spray is bright before it turns sweet. Lemon zest gives a sharp, peel-like sparkle, and rum sits right underneath it, round and slightly molasses-dark, so the opening reads like a citrus twist on a glass of aged rum rather than a cocktail. On Fragrantica the strongest accords are amber, vanilla and rum, followed by citrus and powdery, and that order matches how the scent unfolds on skin.
The heart is where the name comes from. Narcotica built the scent around golden hour, the warm, low light just before sunset, and the amber is that light. Amber in perfumery is not the fossil resin used in jewelry; it is a warm, resinous accord, usually built from materials such as labdanum, benzoin and vanilla. Here it is paired with orange blossom, the white flower of the bitter orange tree, which adds a honeyed, slightly soapy glow and keeps the amber from turning heavy.
The base settles close to the skin. Madagascar vanilla brings a creamy, slightly boozy sweetness that ties back to the rum. Ambergris adds a salty, skin-like warmth (in modern perfumery it is almost always recreated with aroma molecules rather than taken from whales), and musk softens everything into a clean, powdery finish.
Who made it
Mathilde Bijaoui is a perfumer at Mane, the French fragrance house. Her work includes Jo Malone London Myrrh & Tonka, a resin-and-tonka scent, and Etat Libre d'Orange Like This, which is built around an orange accord with orange blossom. In our boutique you can also smell her BDK Parfums Gris Charnel, a fig, black tea and sandalwood skin scent, and the darker Oud Abramad. Her perfumes tend to stay clear in structure even when the materials are warm, and Amber Radiance follows the same approach: three layers, seven notes, nothing extra.
Who it's for
Amber Radiance is for people who love amber and vanilla but find most of them too dense or too much like dessert. The lemon zest and orange blossom lift it, so it smells warm and bright at the same time. If you already like rum notes, it sits between a boozy gourmand and a classic amber, and our rum collection shows how differently houses handle that note.
Within Narcotica it is the sunnier counterpart to Dulce Diablo, which also pairs rum with Madagascar vanilla but adds chocolate, cognac and apricot for a darker, richer result. Love Me Latte, by contrast, is a coffee-and-caramel gourmand. If your shelf leans toward the amber vanilla family, Amber Radiance is one of the lighter-feeling entries in it. It is unisex: nothing in the formula is coded masculine or feminine.
When to wear it
Early votes on Fragrantica put Amber Radiance first in fall and winter, then spring, with day and night wear split evenly. In practice that means a cool October afternoon, a holiday dinner, a winter date night or a bright, chilly spring day. In high summer the amber and vanilla can feel thick in humid heat, so save it for evenings then.
Because it is an extrait de parfum, the most concentrated format a perfume comes in, two or three sprays on the neck and chest are plenty. Extraits tend to wear closer to the skin and last longer than an eau de parfum, so it suits an office or a dinner table without filling the room.
About the house
Narcotica is an independent Italian perfume house, active since 2019. Every fragrance in its line is an extrait de parfum made in Italy with pure organic grain alcohol and no added water, and the house works with world-renowned master perfumers. Most of its line is warm and sweet (Dulce Diablo, Love Me Latte and Happy Dust all sit in gourmand or amber territory), and Amber Radiance is the brightest of its amber scents.
We carry the full 3.4 oz (100 ml) bottle. To try it before you buy, visit our scent bar at 92 West Main Street in Somerville, New Jersey, and smell it next to Dulce Diablo and Love Me Latte to find the Narcotica that suits you.
Fragrance Notes
What's the difference between accords and notes?
Accords are the overall scent families a fragrance gives off — its character at a glance. Notes are the individual ingredients you smell as it develops, from the first spritz (top) to the lasting dry-down (base).
