Jérôme Epinette
Jérôme Epinette is a French perfumer at Robertet, based in New York, and the nose behind Room 1015's Cherry Punk in both concentrations as well as Hollyrose.
He was born and raised in Burgundy and came to perfumery through chemistry, taking a master's degree in biochemistry at Burgundy University in Dijon before training at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. He joined Robertet's Paris office in 2003 and was part of the team that opened the company's New York creative centre in 2006, where he has worked since.
He is probably best known for his long collaboration with Ben Gorham at Byredo, where he composed the majority of the line — a body of work that did a great deal to define what minimal, legible niche perfumery sounded like in the 2010s. He has also worked with Atelier Cologne, Frapin, Olfactive Studio, L'Occitane en Provence and Victoria's Secret, with several hundred fragrances to his name.
His Room 1015 work leans darker and more textural than his Byredo compositions: Cherry Punk sets cherry and saffron against leather and patchouli, and Hollyrose pushes a rose into blackcurrant, leather and black pepper rather than softening it.
