Olivier Cresp

Olivier Cresp is a celebrated master perfumer at Firmenich and the creator of several modern classics. He co-authored Thierry Mugler’s Angel (1992), the fragrance widely credited with launching the modern gourmand genre, and composed Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue (2001), one of the best-known fresh citrus scents of its era. That range, from dense sweetness to airy freshness, is visible in his niche work too.

For the South Korean niche house BORNTOSTANDOUT, Olivier composed Dirty Rice Eau de Parfum. It opens on almond and bergamot, then turns to a creamy, skin-like heart of rice, milk and peony before a base of musk, sandalwood, ambroxan, cedar and vetiver. It shows how a gourmand idea can be kept dry and wearable rather than sugary.

For House of Bō he created Rosario Parfum, a clean, minimalist rose. Lemon, pomegranate, coriander and primrose lead into a transparent bouquet of rose, peony and freesia, finished with ambergris, vetiver and a hint of incense.
