Caroline Dumur
Caroline Dumur is a perfumer at IFF in Paris. She took a degree in fragrance and flavour chemistry before earning her Master's at ISIPCA, and has built a career that moves unusually freely between registers — mainstream houses, auteur fragrance, and briefs restricted to 100% natural materials.
Her range is the point. She has worked on fragrances for Yves Rocher and Paco Rabanne, on auteur projects for Comme des Garçons, and on all-natural compositions for Corps Volatils and Bastille; her credits also include Chloé Nomade Naturelle, Givenchy Irrésistible flankers and Boucheron Singulier. Working without synthetics, she has said, means learning to formulate differently rather than simply substituting materials.
For D’ORSAY she composed Une Rose au Paradis. R.B. (2023), a rose built almost entirely in light: pink pepper and aldehydes over rose and freesia, landing on sandalwood and cashmeran. The house describes her as defending a free and daring perfumery, unafraid of dark and mysterious materials — which makes R.B. the interesting counter-example, a composition where she works in transparency instead.
