Amouage

Amouage is an Omani luxury perfume house founded in 1983 in Muscat by Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud al Busaidi, at the behest of the Sultan of Oman. The name comes from the French "mouage" — wave of emotion — an apt description for a house built around ornate, materials-rich orientals and modern niche compositions that consistently sit at the top of luxury-fragrance rankings.

House style

Amouage is best known for opulent oriental perfumery — saffron, oud, rose, incense, frankincense, silver frankincense (a hallmark Omani ingredient) — delivered in high-concentration Extraits and Eau de Parfums with exceptional longevity and sillage. Under long-serving Creative Director Christopher Chong and now Renaud Salmon, the house has expanded from traditional Arabic-influenced compositions into a modern niche lineup that competes with the world's finest houses.
